Ice Paintings

        Queen Anne's Lace
Acrylic, oil, and enamel on canvas
                 48" x 60" Gallery Wrap

For the better part of three months each year, Wisconsin is cold.  I have found that those winter months offer many opportunities.

Through trial and error, I have discovered that certain paints dry differently in the cold.   So, without regard to the proper instructions from any of the paint manufacturers, I paint on stretched canvases in wicked temperatures well below freezing.  It is exciting, because the canvas, as painted, change; in the drying process some of the paint cracks in rather orderly patterns.  I call these Ice Paintings.
